Deep Impact had a very effective soundtrack for what it was trying to go for. It definitely set the scene with the music and captured the emotion and feeling of what was going on. It beautifully illustrates scenes after they find out the comet is going to hit. Everyone realizes that its going to happen and a sad overtone melody and soft symphony matches many of the scenes perfect. Even when the action picks up when things are frantic, the music mirrors the scene with suspenseful and thrilling music to keep the pace up.

Since the movie is about a natural disaster and how humans can survive and rebuild, the movie tells a story through its music. Like at the end where the president is at the destroyed white house, the music lays a hope and inspiring tone. The soundtrack is worthwhile because it perfectly matches the whole plot of the movie. A comet is crashing to earth, which means destruction and sorrow. The soundtrack mixes the soft sad melodies of loss and tough decisions with the intense and frantic nature of trying to escape the effects of the comet crashing to earth.
